New Year, New Look

The story of J. Berry Nursery & Genetics expands as we continuously write new chapters. In 2021 we’ve turned the page and are proud to introduce an updated company brand. Our President Jim Berry says of the change, “As a company, we are evolving to relate to future generations. I loved our previous logo but this one has a contemporary new look which speaks not only to the trade industry but now also to the gardening public.”

Jim went on to say, “I have received numerous compliments on our fresh new logo from people in our local community appreciating our new sign.” Additionally, he stated that the J. Berry team received positive feedback from industry partners when they started to receive emails with our newly branded signatures, see presentations with our updated design, and browse our freshly updated website.

We’re also thrilled to announce that we recently launched the sale of select plants online, direct to the consumer. Our first featured plant was Spottie Dottie from the outstanding Mad About Mangave Collection! We’ll soon expand our online sales for our Hollywood Hibiscus and Black Diamond Crapemyrtles.

We’re Blushing Because We Are in Love

We are enamored with our newest Summer Spice Hardy Hibiscus named Rosé Soufflé. What makes this delicious hardy hibiscus so unique? While the large, dinner plate size pink blooms with wine-colored centers are striking in their own right, it is the heart-shaped, dark maroon leaves that steal the show!

Did you know that the National Garden Bureau has declared 2021 The Year of the Hardy Hibiscus? They have available hardy hibiscus consumer content that you can use to promote these perennial beauties including our Summer Spice standouts Plum Flambe, Crepe Suzette, Crème de la Crème, Crème de la Cocoa, Bleu Brulee, and Amaretto.

Giving Back to the Green Industry

The Berry Family has made giving back to the industry they love a priority and goal for their business. For years they have been a part of the Horticultural Research Institute which supports scientific research and students for the advancement of the horticultural industry. In fact, our Vice President Jonathan Berry serves on the HRI Board of Trustees.

In January HRI hosted a Winter Garden Party. The fundraising event included a virtual tour of four different facilities including a stop at J. Berry. Brooke McCown, R&D Coordinator, and Kayla Sellers, Account Manager, and our Hollywood Hibiscus, along with our host and President Jim Berry, were the stars of the show!
