I would like to plant a banana tree in my garden, but some I’ve seen become torn and disfigured in the winter. How do I avoid this mess?

Answer:

Bananas shouldn’t be allowed to mess up a landscape. The above- ground portion of a banana is its leaves, so when the weather gets cold simply cut it back to the ground. It will return healthy in the spring.
